Dear MegaGate Web Hosting Customer:
Recently we have seen a marked upswing in the number of cyber-attacks against various web sites on the Internet. Generally, these attacks are against web sites with software that has not been kept up to date with the most current versions.
As hackers break through the security protocols in web site management software, the companies that write the software incorporate newer and more secure protocols into their systems. In order to stay protected against malicious hacker attacks, it is essential that you keep your software up to date.
A common myth is to think that it is less expensive to not update software because upgrades or new licenses have fees associated with them. However, the cost of a hacked website can become very expensive very quickly. A clean-up of a hacked website can easily cost $1,000, and if sensitive data is involved or databases have to be restored, this amount could easily become $10,000 or more. If customers’ private data (credit card numbers, social security numbers, other private information, etc.) is stolen as part of that attack, the amount of liability a company could incur could be devastating financially and cause irreparable damage to customer loyalty and trust.
Each MegaGate Web Hosting customer is responsible for ensuring that their website is secure against attacks from hackers. If you have hired a web site development company to build your site for you, we strongly recommend contacting them to make certain your site is safe and up-to-date. As always, MegaGate will be happy to answer any questions you might have concerning website protection or any other questions you might have regarding your site.

Thank you for your business and your continued support of MegaGate Broadband.
